Returning Forward to a Spiritually Sensitive Judaism

Beginning Tuesday, October 6th.​

What does that even mean? How important of a role does this play in my life today? Have you wondered how you would even define what it means to be Jewish? Is there a particularly Jewish way to respond to the accelerating Jew hatred behavior in Europe and North America? How significant is a Jewish person’s relationship with Israel? Do any of these questions concern you more now than before?

This eight-class course will consider how this seemingly modern, but yet ancient, approach to Jewish identity speaks to these questions and Jewish contemporary life.

What? 

Drawing from diverse Torah-based texts, the course will explore eight Jewish ideas:   

1 - Spirituality in Jewish theology

2 – Talmud Torah — Torah study

3 - Music & nature

4 – Biblical prophecies.

5 - Middot — ethical behavior 

6 – Prayer: In community and in solitude

7 – Rituals: Mitzvoth — Biblical commandments, Halakhot — Rabbinic laws & Minhagim — Traditions

8 -  “A light unto the nations.”

 

When?  

Eight Consecutive Tuesdays, Oct 06 – Nov 24. Approximately 75 minutes per class.

How? 

All classes are live via zoom, will be recorded, and sent to everyone who has registered. Each week the text for the class will be sent out with the zoom link.
